It’s Christmas – rehearsals continue..

As many of our cast take a break for Christmas, we’ve got several soloists and groups at additional rehearsals to perfect some wonderful songs for SHOWTIME 2020, which isn’t long away now…..

On Sunday 24th November all our cast came together for our gang photograph to be taken, with over 100 young people and adults involved in our 2020 show.

As our rehearsal continued, we moved onto blocking in our 2020 show.

Later in rehearsal we were joined by Whitley Bay Rotary club who presented us with a donation cheque to help us put on a great show at the Playhouse. We are extremely grateful for all their continued support.

Week two of our dance rehearsals is off to a great start and as the dance troop learn some new moves we realise we may have set the bar high this year but our troop are already raising it!

This is going to be an awesome show with some very talented young people, take a look at our two posers at the front of this rehearsal.

Our showtime auditions are well underway and we’re delighted with the turn out of young people for solo and group parts in our 2020 show.

Good luck to everyone taking part in the audition process, we hope you have a great night……

Don’t forget, if you are unable to make tonight’s audition process, please let us know by e-mail

Tonight sees the return of our dance rehearsals for Showtime 2020!

Our dance captains have begun delivering our warm-up choreography session to our enthusiastic dance troop and they already look amazing.

Over the next few weeks they will turn our choreographers visions into reality helping the 2020 show be the best that it can be.

There is still time to be part of the dance troop so don’t panic if you were unable to make tonight’s rehearsal…

It’s almost time for us to kick off rehearsals for Showtime 2020!

We’re getting ready to welcome our new cast of Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Scout Network members and leaders to our 2020 cast and we can’t wait to unveil our next show.

Showtime will return to Whitley Bay Playhouse from 23rd – 25th January 2020.

Our Showtime Producer Laura Keady-Bennett said “I think the moment the curtain raised in the finale for Bring on Tomorrow will stay with me for the rest of my days. I actually can’t describe how proud of all of you I was in that moment”.

I can’t thank everyone enough both on and off stage for their support and commitment. This show was certainly a team effort from the very talented Senior Gang to the Cub Gang and their incredible comic timing with their amazing team lead by Pamela. Ian and the band with the fantastic music to props and the amazing costumes. Also the Backstage crew who really didn’t have an easy job but pulled it out the bag. To tuck shop, dressers, stewards, front of house and registration. Plus so many others.

To all of you take a bow and know what we achieved this week was truly magical and very special. Now relax

With only 4 days to go till Gang Show opening night! Today is our last Sunday rehearsal ahead of the big week. If you haven’t already, book your tickets via Playhouse Whitley Bay and show your support to our amazing cast and crew!

From the 25th January, talented youngsters from the Whitley Bay area will take to the stage to wow audiences in Whitley Bay Scouts’ Gang Show Presents Showtime!

With rehearsals almost complete, the curtains will soon be rising on the popular variety show running at Whitley Bay Playhouse. Those treading the boards will perform comedy sketches, dances and musical numbers and the gang are looking to put on another memorable performance.

The 2018 show will include a variety of numbers including renditions of School of Rock and some well-loved ABBA hits, as well as some more traditional sketches.

The 80 strong volunteer cast is made up principally of young people aged between 8 – 25 years old who are all members of the Scout Association. They are supported by over 40 adult volunteers who build the scenery, compose the music, choreograph the routines and make costumes and props.

Showtime Producer Laura Keady Bennett said: “Showtime is a really entertaining, fun, family performance and definitely not what a lot of people expect. It doesn’t matter if your five or 95, if you enjoy good music, comedy and sketches, you’ll really enjoy the show.

“It’s an unforgettable experience for those taking part – providing children and young people with the confidence to get up on stage – but it’s also a really big commitment. There are over 100 people involved in the show and all of our cast and production team are volunteers. They dedicate a huge amount of time and effort and have been working really hard since September to rehearse and prepare for the live shows.”
